Sean Klopper Remarkable Airmanship Trophy

 

 

SAGPA are proud to present the "Sean Klopper Remarkable Airmanship" Trophy.

This prestigious annual award in memory of  Sean Klopper, a remarkable airman that passed away on 8 November 2006. He has been described as "A good friend, colleague and one of the best pilots and instructors in the aviation industry" in the African Pilot Magazine.

The goal of the trophy is to promote adherence to the Aviators Code of Conduct of which Sean Klopper set a magnificent example. The floating trophy will be awarded annually to the most deserving individual displaying one or more of the key criteria below. The selection will be done by the SAGPA committee:

Key Criteria:

In the promotion of the sport of Gyrocopter flying he/she has shown an outstanding all-round display of Airmanship throughout the preceding 12 months including, but not limited to:

  • Making safety the number one priority,Seeking excellence in airmanship,developing and exercising good judgment, and applying sound principles of aeronautical decision-making,recognizing and managing risks effectively,maintaining situational awareness, and adherence to prudent operating practices and personal operating parametersaspiring to professionalism,acting with responsibility and courtesy, and adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • In accordance with SAGPA's Vision and Mission therefore the successful candidate will be selected for displaying one or all of these attributes in a remarkable fashion in keeping with the aviators code of conduct.
  • Promotion of Safety Excellence in response to an emergency situation,
  • Outstanding and consistent application to training, currency and skills building;
  • and a consistent display of combined decision making, safety and efficient operational consideration for others / Achievements

Christa Vorster Noteworthy Achievement Award

 

 

 

The Christa Vorster Trophy is in memory of a wonderful fellow aviator who passed away on 20 June 2010. She left a void that can never be filled.The floating trophy will be awarded annually to the most deserving individual displaying one or more of the key criteria below. .

Key criteria:

  • In the promotion of the sport of gyrocopter flying he/she has acted as an exceptional ambassador in the preceding twelve months, inspiring other pilots to achieve excellence and also introducing the public to gyrocopter flying.

Newest Gyroplane Pilot

  

Key Criteria:

  • Paid up membership Fee
  • Pilot must have a "clean" record
  • Pilots that received their licenses in the 2017 period (Jan to Dec), date of NPL GYR license received and number of Gyro hours is key.
  • Nominees from the Members and supporting information is also taken into consideration.
 

Youngest Gyronaut

Key Criteria:

  • Paid up membership Fee
  • Pilot must have a "clean" record
  • Active Current License
  • This award is linked to the age of the pilot in the year 2017, no matter the hours or date of license
  • Must be between 16 & 39 years of age (The youngest)
  • Nominees from the Members and supporting information is also taken into consideration.
 

Oldest Pilot Award

Key Criteria:

  • Paid up membership Fee
  • Pilot must have a "clean" record.  
  • Active current License
  • Oldest in 2017 period (Jan to Dec)
  • Must be over the age of 75 and under 80
  • If there is more than 1 that falls into the criteria, then the date of  Gyroplane license issued will be taken into consideration.
  • Nominees from the Members and supporting information is also taken into account.

 

Platinum Pilot Award

Key Criteria:

  • Paid up membership Fee
  • Pilot must have a "clean" record.
  • Active current license 
  • Must be 80 years in 2017.
  • Nominees from the Members and supporting information is also taken into consideration.
  • This award only comes into account should a pilot in that specific year qualify.
 

CFI of the Year Award

This award recognizes outstanding CFI's who have made significant contributions to unique and effective ground and dual training that enhances the students flying skills in the best possible manner to ensure safety during flight at all times.

Key Criteria:

  • Paid up membership Fee
  • Pilot must have a "clean" record.
  • Active current license
  • Nominees from Students and members and the supporting information is what this award is based on.

 

Approved Person of the Year Award

This award recognizes outstanding Approved Persons, who is actively involved in setting standards and being an example within the maintenance, repair and inspection of gyroplanes and who have made significant contributions towards industry partners to enhance the level of professionalism, streamline the processess and procedures, be an active voice for the Approved Person Scheme and assiting in training programs for new upcoming Approved Persons within the Gyroplane Industry.

  • Pilot must have a "clean" record.
  • Active current AP license
  • Nominees from clients and members and the supporting information is what this award is based on.
